Hands-on influence
Healing Touch Family Chiropractic is Dr. Jenny Beatty’s forum
Jenny Beatty, who is originally from Sarnia, Ontario, lived in a lot of places prior to settling into her own chiropractic practice in Kimberley, B.C. She was educated in Alberta and California, and after graduating from chiropractic college practiced as a locum in California, Australia, Calgary, New Zealand, Cranbrook and Kimberley—in that order. She said that Kimberley has been a great place to settle and become part of a community. Beatty said that she is still incorporating the best aspects that she learned as a locum into her own practice, Healing Touch Family Chiropractic.
Kootenay Business magazine talked to Beatty, one of three East Kootenay women who received its Influential Women in Business award.
KB: Do you know why you were nominated for this award?
Beatty: The person who nominated me is a patient. Several members of her family receive chiropractic care at Healing Touch Family Chiropractic, including a relative who comes in when visiting from out of town. They appreciate the time, attention and thoroughness in their care. As well, she is impressed by and enjoys our extensive lending library of books, CDs and DVDs.
KB: How do you feel about receiving this recognition?
Beatty: In all the work and details of being a business owner and employer as well as a chiropractor, I can lose sight of the bigger picture and question whether I’m making a difference. This award renews my energy and tells me that I am making a difference. I am really grateful for this recognition.
KB: What do you think it takes to be a woman of influence?
Beatty: I believe three essential characteristics are a deep longing to serve, the ability to empower others and the confidence to put ourselves out in the world.
