If you’re concerned about genetically engineered foods but confused about the science, there’s a speaker’s tour coming to Kimberley, B.C., that you should make sure to attend. Even if you’d like to know more about the issue in general, mark December 8, 2013, on your calendar.

Two Canadian scientists will be speaking in Kimberley about genetically engineered foods and human health. Dr. Thierry Vrain, a retired soil biologist and genetic engineer, will describe what the future holds for us if GE foods are not stopped. Dr. Shiv Chopra, a former Health Canada senior scientific advisor, will discuss the Canadian regulatory process, including the story of bovine growth hormone, highlighting how the regulatory process can be compromised to serve corporate interests, and what we can do about it.

The event is offered in part through Wildsight and is taking place at Kimberley’s Centre 64 at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation. This Canada-wide speakers tour is an exceptional opportunity to hear established Canadian scientists comment on this aspect of agriculture. For more information see the Wildsight events page.
