Take your thirst to Fernie. The biggest asset of the new restaurant Nevados is the award-winning drink list of margaritas, Kootenay craft beers, South American wines and high-end artisan tequilas and mezcals. Owners Kurt Saari and Storm Largue opened the Latin American restaurant last summer. “So far things are going well,” said Saari. “We just don’t sleep anymore.” Nevados—translating to “covered in snow”—serves everything from Argentinian-style steak to Central American-style ceviches to Mexican-style artisan tacos. “Business in Fernie is solid,” said Saari, with a steady flow of world travellers any time of year.
