The Kootenay region is home to a thriving community of innovators, entrepreneurs, and visionaries who are shaping industries and fueling progress. We've had the privilege of interviewing some of the most dynamic thought leaders in the Kootenays, gaining insights into their challenges, motivations, and future prospects.

As 2025 begins, we would like to highlight some of the top thought leaders to watch for this year—individuals who not only excel in their fields, but also make meaningful contributions to their communities.

#1. Lillian Rose

Title: Traditional Knowledge and Language Coordinator at Ktunaxa Nation Council

Thought leadership: Lillian Rose is a passionate advocate for preserving and sharing Ktunaxa culture. As a co-creator of Q̓apkiǂ, a visually stunning book that celebrates Ktunaxa stories, history, and art, she helps to transform oral traditions into a tangible resource for education and reconciliation. A skilled basket weaver deeply connected to the land, Rose also teaches her craft to the next generation while championing the importance of cultural knowledge and heritage.
