Trail makes a global impact

Kathy Bruce, the vice-president of Toxco Waste Management Ltd. in Trail, recently made a trip overseas to give a presentation to NATO Command.

In front of 17 NATO representatives in Brussels, Belgium, Bruce described a plan to recycle millions of used lithium-ion batteries that remain in Iraq and Afghanistan after the military activity that has persisted there over the years. This followed a successful presentation that Toxco made to the Canadian Department of Defence. Toxco is known for being a world leader in lithium recycling operations, having recycled more than 3.7 million pounds of lithium batteries within the past year. If implemented, the new plan could have an international impact.
