Business partners Nicole Leckenby and Deanna Peake opened Coal Town Goods in Fernie in November 2015. Most of the store’s beautiful, contemporary merchandise is from Canadian designers and artists, particularly from B.C. and Alberta. Wearable pieces include NMJ Jewellery (Revelstoke), We Are Stories clothing (Nelson), Populess Premium Leather (Alberta), Outlaw Leather Designs (Wardner), Smoking Lily clothing (Victoria), Denai Bell jewelry (Kimberley), Camp + Co jewelry (Fernie), and many more. You’ll also find art, ceramics, paper products and sunglasses. In this industry-based town with traditional core values, “We are ‘bush party meets sophisticate,’ ” said Leckenby.
