Kootenay residents who want to enhance a building with stonework have a new option. The Kootenay Stone Masonry Training School in Salmo is now offering five-day courses in stone masonry. Instructor Iris Lamb said that students can learn to do surprisingly intricate work with the week.

The courses can be tailored to individual needs and can focus on either interior or exterior stonework. They can be a starting point for those wanting to set up their own business or simply wanting a new look for their properties. Modules can be added and students receive a certificate for every course completed.

"We like to see people have a better life and hope these courses will be a stepping stone towards accomplishing their dream," said Lamb.
