The defunct Kootenay Hotel in Creston is being reincarnated. The building was acquired in May 2015 by Ralph Casemore and Tanya Wall, and they are redeveloping it into an attractive restaurant, wine bar and artisan retail space, with a boutique hotel on the upper floor. In memory of Casemore’s father, the new name for the hotel is Casey’s Community House, and a community introduction event was held in April 2016. Renovations are being done by local contractors with local products, and Wall and Casemore hope to open the facility in spring or summer of 2017.
