Steve Winters and Matt Ballard, owners of Kootenay Concrete Countertops based in Kimberley, B.C., have teamed up to offer homeowners in the Kootenays and beyond an exciting alternative to traditional countertops. Winters said he has been building houses for as long as he can remember, and Ballard's experience with concrete is extensive.

"Together we make a great team," said Winters. "We can design, construct and install a whole kitchen if necessary."

Concrete countertops are a unique, cost-effective alternative to traditional countertops, said Winters.

"People are often surprised about what can be done with concrete," he said. "Different colours are possible—or specific rocks or add-ins such as glass can be mixed in to give each countertop its one-of-a-kind character."

This way, the homeowner can personalize their home however they like. Winters said that the company's offerings are not limited to just countertops. Decks, flooring, mantelpieces and even furniture are possible.

Kootenay Concrete Countertops provides free quotes and can arrange shipment.
