Brown Dog Contracting Ltd. is a new business in Cranbrook owned by Monte Smith, an exterior home finisher with 20 years of experience. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Smith moved to the Kootenays eight years ago to be closer to the mountains. Working with building designers and homeowners in Edmonton, Jasper and Cranbrook, he is proficient at installing vinyl, stucco and Hardie board siding, as well as cedar accents and cultured stone. Smith also offers stone fireplace accenting and custom outdoor living solutions. “I really enjoy custom work,” said Smith. “There is more creativity involved.”
