Fox’s Transport Ltd. of Cranbrook, B.C., is undergoing major construction this winter. The local trucking business has been owned by a Fort Steele family since 1972.

“It was run by (my husband) Jerry’s grandpa,” said co-owner Diana Walker. “We’re expanding about 3,800 square feet. We’re adding on nine new offices along with a boardroom.”

She added that a gym will be set up for staff use. Currently employees are cramped into the old office building located in Cranbrook’s industrial park.

“This will make things easier,” Diana said cheerfully. She explains that the office is currently crammed not only with “paper pushers” but with an operations team that orchestrates all the truck drivers and their routes. “It gets pretty loud in here.”

Construction of the building addition is due to be completed in mid-February, with renovations to the existing office to be finished by the end of March.
