Rebecca Hall is Tourism Fernie’s new co-ordinator of administration and marketing. Originally from Scotland, Hall has worked in the hospitality and tourism industry for most of her life. Her career and love of travelling have taken her to places like New Zealand, Australia, France and the U.S.

Eventually, the lure of the Elk Valley lifestyle caught up with Hall, and she moved to Fernie 10 years ago.

"I came for the snow," said Hall. "I love the winters here."

Hall enjoys cross-country skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer; she takes a keen interest in her community as well. Hall is a founder of the Reel Canadian Film Festival and she voluteers at the Arts Station in Fernie. She also writes a monthly events feature for the Fernie Fix Lifestyle Magazine and runs a local branch of the Kootenay Carshare Cooperative.

In her new job capacity with Tourism Fernie, Hall is eager to help increase awareness of Fernie around the world as the premier destination in Canada.

“It’s a great four-season location,” she said. “It’s really exciting (and) there’s always something going on.”
