4Cats Arts Studio saw the opening of its Nelson branch on February 4th, and received an eager reception from the Nelson community. More than 130 young artists and families came through the doors within a four-hour period.

"I decided to open a 4Cats Arts Studio in Nelson when I was working down in Vancouver and walked into my friend's 4Cats in Port Moody," said Melanie Ward, who is an artist, curator and owner of the studio. "Everything about 4Cats suited Nelson. It is an artistic playground that encourages the love of learning, beauty and art."

The Nelson studio offers classes, workshops, parties and field trips to encourage local talent and to inspire new and established artists. 4Cats accommodates artists who work in all types of media, including acrylics, silkscreen, clay and papier mâché.
