Kalum Ko, an 18-year-old filmmaker from Kimberley, was chosen as a finalist in the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival. His short film The Questions We Ask is about the stand-up paddle-board (SUP) excursion of Bruce Kirkby (also from Kimberley), as he paddled from Vancouver to Victoria. The 150-kilometre journey took four days, and Kirkby completed it on his paddle-board while Ko and photographer Dave Quinn followed behind in a double kayak to document the adventure. Ko is currently studying sciences at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, and continuing to work on his filmmaking as well. Check out Kalum Ko’s website to learn more.
