Nicole Anker
Nicole Anker is a born leader, and her skills have come in handy.
Nicole Anker works for the East Kootenay Community Credit Union (EKC), providing banking and lending services to small businesses and non-profit organizations. She has held several leading positions in the Junior Chamber International (JCI) and through that experience she moved on to sit on the board of the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce. Anker took a few minutes out of her busy day to answer a few of our questions about her role at the credit union and her life in the Kootenays.
How did you come to choose this line of work?
I have a bachelor of management degree with a minor in social responsibility, and have always been passionate about business and its impact on community.
What is it about your work that has you excited to get out of bed in the morning?
To help others succeed and to contribute to making our community a better place.
What’s your focus for 2016?
To continue to develop my leadership skills through professional development courses at EKC and through my involvement in JCI Kootenay. As a past president of JCI Kootenay, my focus now is to provide mentorship for up-and-coming leaders.
Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur in the Kootenays?
I moved here from Alberta after I graduated from university. I grew up in Edmonton and knew I didn’t want to live the big-city lifestyle.
