Since 2008, Chase Thielen has been working closely with engineers and homeowners in the Kootenays, turning design ideas into reality. His business, Silverado Construction (a division of Treay Enterprises Inc.), has been growing steadily. And if that’s not enough to keep him busy, Thielen is also the owner of KD Electric—a full service electrical company based in Cranbrook. In the spirit of giving back, Thielen’s two companies helped raise funds for the new ICU unit at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. Away from work, Thielen enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors.

Below, he answers a few questions for Kootenay Business:

How did you come to choose this line of work?

This business allows me to do what I really enjoy with the added bonus of meeting and working with some great people. I have always been passionate about building things and look forward to working in the industry for many years to come.

Working on heritage buildings and revitalising them interests me, as does working from the ground up to help clients realize their dream project. I take pride in being able to stand back and look at the finished products. I’m lucky that my career choice allows me to do what I love.

What is it about your work that has you excited to get out of bed in the morning?

Each day provides me with a challenge, and being able to see the outcome of making people’s thoughts/ideas become reality.

What’s your focus for 2016?

To develop a strong team and to build strong systems.

Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur in the Kootenays?

I was born and raised in the Kootenays, and I love it here.
