Director, Financial Planning — Please quote Competition # 18-MN-05

Duties:  Reporting to the Vice President – Finance and Corporate Services, the Director is accountable to provide leadership to the Financial Services department and to ensure complete and accurate financial records and reporting. This position provides operational leadership to the College’s budget and variance reporting cycles, and works as an internal financial consultant to budget officers in a responsive, innovative and integrated fashion. This position is responsible to: ensure that appropriate and effective control systems are in place; provide support and leadership to the Financial Services department for the ongoing improvement of financial systems/processes, and identify financial policy gaps; provide operational and strategic leadership to the Purchasing and Shipping/Receiving function and oversee all procurement activities; manage various third-party service contracts; Determines cash flow requirements; and, ensures all budgets are created accurately considering requirements of Collective Agreements and Terms of Employment.

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting (CPA) designation, with a thorough understanding of PSAB accounting and fund accounting standards.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a comparable financial management role involving the development and leadership of a team of professional and technical staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of computerized accounting systems and integrated management information systems with advanced understanding of public/government financial, administrative, budgeting and investment practices.
  • A working knowledge of collective agreements along with excellent communication skills including negotiation, mediation, persuasion, influencing and conflict resolution Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel.

Salary:  The starting annual salary for this Management Group position will be within the range of $86,129 to $114,838. Management Group employees are eligible for annual salary increases within and above the starting range through demonstrated performance. The College also offers a comprehensive range of benefits.

Director, Donor and Alumni Engagement —Please quote Competition #18-MN-04

Duties:  Reporting to the Vice President, Partnership and Advancement, the Director is accountable for oversight of the College’s strategic alumni engagement efforts and our fund development program including major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitation, campaigns, and annual giving. The primary focus of the position is to develop and execute long-term viable and sustainable fundraising and resource development strategies and to create the environment for a strong alumni network to be developed. The Director plays the lead role with key accountabilities for visioning, planning and strategic direction for the advancement activities at the College. The Director oversees a small team and coordinates the activity of volunteers that support both alumni and development efforts. Advancement, fund development and alumni engagement is integral to the future of the College and requires the Director to work collaboratively with other departments and members of the College team.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Education or a related field with a minimum of six years of related leadership experience.
  • A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of, or experience in, post-secondary education or the philanthropic environment in related sectors.
  • A strategic thinker with a demonstrated track record developing plans and programs in the fields of fundraising and alumni including policy, procedure development and project management.
  • A highly collaborative manager with excellent communications, public relations and presentation skills, with the ability to recruit and motivate a team of professional staff.

Career Opportunity - Construction Project Manager — Cranbrook, BC

We're currently seeking a Project Manager to help us execute on a variety of complex, custom commercial and industrial projects. In this role you will respond to client requests for proposals; assist significantly with the estimating process; plan and track all aspects of project progress; manage contracts with clients, vendors and subtrades, work closely with accounting and site superintendents.

This role demands a wide range of process, resource and skills. As an ideal candidate for this position, you have an impressive background managing high-end mixed-use projects. Key qualifications:

  • Ten plus years' experience managing custom high-end commercial projects
  • Keen understanding of contract (CCDC) law and lien legislation; experience with contract negotiation, bidding processes, purchasing, and cash flow
  • Comprehensive knowledge of: buiding products; industry best practices, and their implementation throughout the course of construction; building code; Worksafe BC and construction insurance
  • Skilled in the use of software and project management tools; ProEst, MS Office 365 including EXCEL, and integrated construction-based financial packages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a constructive approach to problem-solving, calm under pressure, skilled in conflict resolution and crisis management
  • The ability to think creatively and know when to try something new
