Wayne Gilbert, a realtor with Remax Caldwell Agencies in Kimberley, loves his summers in his native land. Kootenay Business asked Gilbert about his favourite summertime activities in the area. "I live in the Kootenays because of all the outdoor recreational amenities it has to offer," said Gilbert.

What do you like to do in the Kootenays in summer?

Golfing and fly-fishing to mountain biking, hiking and camping.

Who do you go with?

With the family; I do them all individually and with the family.

Where is your favourite place to fly-fish?

I have some favourite spots, but like a true fly-fisherman, I don't divulge them.

Where do you vacation in the Kootenays?

Premier Lake is a very popular spot for us. It's a great place to enjoy the summer weather, swimming off the dock, jumping off the rocks, hiking to Yankee Lake, evening fishing and, of course, enjoying the campfire with the family.

How far afield do you go in the summer?

We mostly stay local because there is so much to do. There is a lifetime of activities to do in our own backyard. I like the consistent good weather in the summer, and it is such a good clean healthy lifestyle.
