With its high altitude, resort culture and alpine theme, Kimberley attracts visitors galore during the winter. In addition to the pleasant atmosphere and the famous Platzl shopping sector with its interesting selection of stores, Kimberley is surrounded by a world of outdoor recreation.

Seeing the backcountry forests, the Rocky Mountains and the bountiful wildlife makes for an experience you will never forget.

Tour the terrain

Dogsledding is a terrific way to go exploring in the wilderness. Adrenaline Dog Tours offers dogsled tours through the woods with a team of Siberian huskies. You can customize your trip and go on half- or full-day tours.

Snowmobilers will be delighted with the terrain around Kimberley. If you are new to the trails and would like to try them out with knowledgeable guides at your side, Kimberley Snowmobile Adventures can provide you with half-day, full-day or nighttime tours. The guides can accommodate any skill level, and children aged 12 years old and under can ride on a snowmobile with an accompanying adult for free.

Get a bird’s-eye view by taking one of the local helicopter sightseeing tours. A helicopter can pick you up directly from Kimberley Alpine Resort and take you on an adventure of a lifetime. You can take a quick flight over the mountains to get a stunning view, or go for a longer trip to fully appreciate the incredible landscape that surrounds Kimberley.

Take an active approach

For an all-round winter playground, you can pay a visit to Kimberley Alpine Resort. There are so many things to do there, you might need to extend your stay in order to try it all.

Skiing is one of the resort’s most popular activities, and you can even go night skiing and snow-boarding on a well-lit run. Rentals and lessons are available on site for a reasonable price.

Also, an extensive network of cross-country skiing trails are maintained by the Nordic Centre Society. There is a 3.3-kilometre trail loop that is lit up for cross-country skiing at night as well.

Snowshoeing is another fun local pastime for those who like to get some exercise during their sightseeing. The Kimberley Alpine Resort offers packages that allow you to ride to the mountain-top on a chairlift, then head out on snowshoes and enjoy an interpretive tour and snacks.

There is an outdoor skating rink at the resort too, and amazing places to eat after your day’s activities.
