A new pharmacy in Kimberley

Gray’s Compounding Pharmacy Remedy’s RX in Marysville reflects Kimberley's focus on active and healthy living

by Lisa Crane

It was the dynamic vibe of the community that motivated locals Michelle and Andy Gray to open a Remedy’s RX pharmacy in Marysville, in south Kimberley.

Michelle, a Cranbrook native, has been practising pharmacy in the Kootenays since 1998 and for the last few years had been the head pharmacist at Cranbrook’s Shoppers Drug Mart in the Tamarack Centre.

“After three years there, Andy and I decided that we wanted to open our own business practising pharmacy with a focus on quality products to support healthy living,” said Michelle.

The couple, who met on a blind date at the Kimberley Alpine Resort, have been living in Kimberley since 1999, and have three children, Dawson, 12; Caetlyn, 9; and Leah , 6. The family love the Kootenays for the active lifestyle, the friendly people and the climate.

“We wanted to to work where we play,” said Michelle, “and after looking at other communities in the Kootenays, we felt that Kimberley could support another pharmacy.”

The couple chose healthy-living Marysville as the location for their pharmacy—adjacent to Creekside Physiotherapy and across the street from Naturally Chiropractic.

“We are excited to now own and operate our own business in our thriving community,” said Michelle. “We are happy to raise our family here and retire here eventually.”

Compounding and other services

Gray’s Compounding Pharmacy Remedy’s RX offers a number of services. It is a full dispensing pharmacy with a professional compounding lab where Michelle can individualize medication for each client's needs. Michelle has been consulting with patients about their hormones for over 10 years, and with their physician’s support, she can offer customized bio-identical hormones. The pharmacy carries a number of quality nutritional supplements and products to support health, featuring Metagenics, and offers food-intolerance testing and healthy leg assessments for compression stockings.

“I find myself in a unique position to be able to bridge western medicine and natural medicine,” said Michelle. “I thoroughly enjoy interacting with my customers and working with them to find solutions to support their movement towards healthy outcomes.”
