Steve and Denyse LeNeveu of Nufloors Fernie are celebrating 20 years in business this year. They purchased the Fernie Home Decorating Store—operating under the United Carpet banner—in 1994. In 2005 the business became part of the Nufloors Group—which provides marketing, advertising and business support—and the name was changed to Nufloors Fernie.

Mike LeNeveu, son of Steve and Denyse, grew up in Fernie. He attended the University of Victoria, and after obtaining his degree he returned to Fernie to join the family business in 2008. As general manager and part owner, Mike assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the store.

The business has grown in 20 years, and Nufloors Fernie employs from 15 to 20 local people at any one time. Though the company name correctly suggests that it specializes in flooring—including laminate, hardwood, vinyl, carpet, and stone and ceramic tile—the store also offers a wide range of Benjamin Moore paint and Hunter Douglas window blinds.

Nufloors Fernie has experts to help customers choose the products that best suit their needs, as well as experts who can install blinds and floor coverings—both residential and commerical. Nufloors Fernie also offers custom stone and ceramic shower and wet area installations.

As a family, the LeNeveus believe in supporting local businesses, and proudly assist many local charities and non-profit groups. They are grateful to all of the people who have supported Nufloors Fernie through two decades.
