Ari Rosen loves life in Fernie, B.C., along with owning his business, the Good Earth Natural Alternatives health food store. After a successful decade with the store, his joy in life is contagious and he remains passionate about serving his community.

What do you like most about your job?

Helping people stay stoked on life.

What is your number 1 passion outside work?

Living and smiling.

Why did you choose to get into this business?

I love Fernie and it was a fantastic opportunity. This business was closing down or for sale. My family has always been into well-being and looking after people—they're pretty much a combination of health and business. They're either doctors or midwives or business people, so I kind of grew up with all this.

What advice would you give to someone going into business?

(They should) trust their instincts and be very conservative with their spending. (It's also important to) have a really great open relationship and communication with your community.
