Snow and ice? Bring it on
Come to Cranbrook for your next winter vacation
From shopping to outdoor adventures, Cranbrook has a little bit of everything. The winter season brings an array of activities to town that will keep you entertained throughout your visit.
Follow the trails
Cranbrook has its share of places to hike and ski during the winter, with trail systems that lead you through beautiful woodland areas.
The Cranbrook Community Forest, for example, offers 2,000 hectares of land with lookout points that will
astound you. The Community Forest trails are also ideal for cross-country skiing.
Another place to go hiking or cross-country skiing is on the Rails to Trails route that runs between Cranbrook and Kimberley. Or, you can try the South Star Trails, which begin on Gold Creek Road just south of Cranbrook and cover approximately 30 kilometres of wilderness territory.
For those who prefer motorized sports, snowmobiling trails are also available close to town. Top terrain can be found in the Lumberton area, the Perry Creek Trail System, or—if you don’t mind driving a bit out of town—in Moyie.
Root for the home team
If you have a penchant for hockey, you will want to make time to see one of the Kootenay Ice games at the Cranbrook RecPlex. This talented local team is a member of the Western Hockey League (WHL), and home games are a favourite activity for residents and visitors alike.
When you aren’t watching the professionals at work, you can join the locals skating and playing hockey at Baker Park and Idlewild Park.
