Kettle River Contracting LP, based in Cranbrook, has been recognized with the Business Partnership of the Year at the 17th Annual Indigenous Business Awards (IBA) presented by the BC Achievement Foundation. The honour celebrates the company’s leadership, innovation, and commitment to partnership-driven success in the region.

The Indigenous Business Awards program recognizes Indigenous entrepreneurs, businesses, partnerships, and community-owned enterprises that are making a significant impact in British Columbia. Kettle River Contracting LP is one of eight businesses recognized this year, joining a distinguished network of over 230 Indigenous business leaders who have been honoured since the program began in 2008.

“Kettle River Contracting LP represents the best of Indigenous business leadership in B.C.,” said Walter Pela, Chair of the BC Achievement Foundation. “Their entrepreneurial journey reflects a deep connection to community and land, while embracing innovation and collaboration. This award is a testament to the strength and potential of Indigenous partnerships in shaping a sustainable economic future for all.”

Celebrating excellence

This year’s awardees were selected by a jury panel that included past IBA alumni and Indigenous business leaders from across the province. The winners will be celebrated at a formal gala ceremony on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. The event is open to the public, and early bird tickets are available online for $250 per person.

The Indigenous Business Award is one of five signature programs of the BC Achievement Foundation, an independent organization that celebrates excellence and inspires achievement throughout British Columbia. The IBA program is made possible through partnerships with the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan), and generous support from Platform Partner RBC and additional sponsors.
