Up for an Emmy

by

Two West Kootenay composers have been nominated for a prestigious Emmy Award for their work on Untamed Americas; a National Geographic project.

Nelson local Robert Neufield and Adham Shaikh from the Slocan Valley have been composing music for this four-part nature series, which explores wildlife in the Americas. Working 14- to 16-hour days, seven days a week over the course of six months, the pair relied on each other for creative feedback and moral support during the challenging project.

Neufield had prior experience working with National Geographic, so he was able to lend his additional knowledge to the team. Shaikh is a record producer and a sound designer, so he had his own strengths and insights to add. They were both thrilled at the Emmy nomination, which makes them eligible for an Outstanding Music and Sound Award. What a proud achievement for these talented West Kootenay artists. The Emmy Awards air on September 22, 2013.
