Dennis Hockley is planning a new, city-style recreation complex to be built in the industrial park in Cranbrook, B.C. — Marie Milner photo

Dennis Hockley has acquired the property, the permits and the completed drawings for his next project: the Oasis Centre, to be situated in the industrial park in Cranbrook, B.C. The complex will be a joint venture for Aldies Land Company Ltd. and Living Stones Developments, and will be a city-style recreational facility to increase the options for East Kootenay residents.

Picture this: An attractive four-storey building in Cranbrook’s industrial park—with a footprint of 144’x80’—that offers one double and three single squash courts; a full climbing facility including a training wall and bouldering area; a fully-equipped gym with weights and cardio area; studios for yoga or other fitness modalities; two virtual golf stations; a Mountain Info Centre for community and area recreation and booking; a staffed babysitting area; a conference room; a full restaurant and lounge with a viewing window; and live-in security personnel.

Very, very nice picture.

The property has been acquired and the development permit obtained. Mechanical, architectural and structural drawings are all done. This complex will be a joint venture for Aldies Land Company Ltd. and Living Stones Developments, and it’s at the discretion of owner Dennis Hockley when to break ground for what will be called the Oasis Centre. He’s eager to do so, and promises that it will be pretty.
