A river runs through it. The pristine Wigwam river runs from Montana into the Elk River and has the reputation of having some of the most amazing fly fishing opportunities in North America. It also happens to lie in Scott Deydey’s backyard. Successful Fly fishing takes a rare combination of art and science, which happen to be the same skills that Deydey uses daily to run Wigwam Media. Staying current with cutting-edge technology helps Deydey to design websites and other marketing materials that bring clients results. It also helps him stay in the town he loves—one that just happens to have a river running through it.

How did you come to choose this line of work?

After 11 years of working different jobs in Fernie, I noticed a demand for IT and web professionals in the valley so I decided to go back to school at the age of 30. College of the Rockies in Cranbrook offered a two-year Computer Networking and Web Specialist diploma which I enrolled in. Shortly after graduating in 2012, I started Wigwam Media.

What is it about your work that has you excited to get out of bed in the morning?

Every customer and project contain new challenges in an ever-changing industry. No two projects are ever the same.

What’s your focus for 2016?

Staying on the cutting edge of technology is one of my top priorities. I am focused on providing the best service I can to my clients and building strong relationships throughout the community.

Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur in the Kootenays?

The lifestyle is what brought me to the Kootenays and it's what keeps me here as well. I enjoy spending time outdoors snowboarding, cross-country skiing and fly fishing.
