When opportunity knocked, Megan Lescanec was ready to open the door.

Born and raised in Cranbrook, the owner of Bumble Tree Baby and Children’s Essentials is happy to be sharing the parenting journey of the customers who walk through her door. And she is very excited that a fully functioning web store will soon complement the bricks-and-mortar premises of Bumble Tree Baby.

Lescanec finds the business community of the Kootenays in general and Cranbrook in particular to be very supportive.  She expects to be here for the long haul,  watching those Cranbrook babies grow up and, hopefully, prosper like herself.

How did you come to choose this line of work?

It was really more of an opportunity than a plan.  When the opportunity to purchase the business presented itself, I knew it would be a great fit and something that I would enjoy doing for many years to come!

What is it about your work that has you excited to get out of bed in the morning?

The excitement of finding great new products and sharing in the most special moments of a person's life as they start or navigate their parenting journey. It's very special when an expectant couple comes in and they are just glowing with excitement and anticipation and they trust us to point them in the right direction and help them select the products they will need. And then as the months progress, we get to watch those babies grow up and enter different stages.

What’s your focus for 2016?

My main goal this year is to upgrade our website to a fully functioning web store. Our customers have been asking for this and we are now at a point where we are ready to make it happen. I'm so excited for the opportunities this will open up for our business and the convenience it will bring to our customers near and far!

Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur in the Kootenays?

I was born and raised here so it's definitely home. The Kootenays are a great place to do business. I find the business community very supportive of each other. Being active in the business community is a great way to stay involved, give back and contribute to our wonderful community.
