Every community has a changing lineup of people who make a positive difference through entrepreneurism, volunteerism and a passion for the environment. The people listed below are some who are currently making a positive difference in Revelstoke, B.C.

  1. Roberta Ciolli, the Columbia Basin Business Advisor based in Revelstoke, supports existing businesses and social enterprises as needed, right through to succession planning and exiting. She has been involved with Crime Stoppers for 10 years, and has a passion for supporting youth to become self-reliant, productive, fulfilled citizens.
  2. Brett Renaud owns Revelstoke Equipment Rentals Ltd.; he is the volunteer chair of the economic development committee for the City of Revelstoke and as a Rotarian is active in community causes.
  3. Chris Pawlitsky is the president of Revy Riders Dirtbike Club. He's worked hard to get the club off the ground and to get tenure from the government to build hundreds of kilometres of single-track dirt bike trails. He's also worked closely with Tourism Revelstoke, and the club’s events are attracting visitors from across Western Canada.
  4. Randy Driediger, general manager at RCU Insurance Services, is president of the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce, president and volunteer with the Revelstoke Fire Rescue Society, and a Rotarian. His involvement in organizing a men’s soccer league brings visitors and revenue to the community.
  5. Geoff Battersby is a retired physician and former mayor who was the project manager during the construction of the Revelstoke Community Energy Corporation, and he continues as its chair. He is also involved in the Revelstoke Community Foundation and the community may never, ever allow him to fully retire.
  6. Linda Chell founded the Child Care Resource Centre and sits on more than a dozen committees and boards. Her efforts have helped Revelstoke to become a leader in early childhood development in B.C.
  7. Beverly Wiege has helped to run the local elections for years. Among other volunteer activities, Wiege works at the local thrift store and delivers Meals on Wheels. She was named Revelstoke’s 2015 Citizen of the Year.
  8. Steven Hui of Revelstoke Pharmasave is active in the community through the Rotary Club and the Revelstoke Community Foundation. He was a long-time member of the board of the chamber of commerce and served for 15 years as chair of the economic development committee for the City of Revelstoke.
  9. Dave Kaegi of West Kootenay Parks, has just completed six years of intense involvement developing the Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club, making significant additions to infrastructure, conveniences, buildings and trails.
  10. Tammy Kermack of Canyon Industrial Electric has a special place in her heart for the Revelstoke Museum & Archives, where she volunteers when she can. She is also involved with the local Rotary club and has a long history of volunteering with the Timber Days Committee.
