Kimberley Electric has been busy with some significant projects in Cranbrook in the past year. The company—which will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2019—employs 10 people as a rule, and ramps up the employee count as necessary for big projects.

Among its recent projects were the Tamarack Mall renovation, an extensive renovation to accommodate the new Ground Floor Co-working Space, and installations for the new trades building at College of the Rockies.

Kimberley Electric owner, Curtis McLaren, likes the slow and steady population and economic growth he’s been seeing in Cranbrook and Kimberley. “That kind of growth doesn’t attract the bigger contractors from the bigger centres,” he said, “so that gives more opportunities to local contractors.”
