Last season, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort visitors in Golden were skiing the latest addition to one of North America's largest mountain resort proprietors, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR). RCR purchased Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (KHMR) at the end of 2011.

Matt Mosteller, vice-president of marketing and sales for RCR, said the resort had an unforgettable season.

“The La Nina weather cycle delivered incredible record snowfall to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort,” said Mosteller. “The story was told about the skiing and riding experience by the smiles on all of the guests' faces as they enjoyed this winter.”

Mosteller credited the team at KHMR.

“A very talented and capable team—led by Steve Paccagnan, president of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort—have incredible passion for guest services, skiing, snowboarding and the mountains,” said Mosteller. “They love to share their passion.”

Mosteller said that the experience offered at KHMR is one-of-a-kind.

“Top five vertical skiing in North America, incredible terrain over four bowls, and over 80 chutes make Kicking Horse a stand-out leader in big-mountain skiing in North America,” said Mosteller. “Ski-in and ski-out lodging with so much variety makes the resort a family favourite destination for adventure.”

He added that the Eagle's Eye Restaurant offers a great dining experience at an altitude of 2,325 metres. It overlooks what Mosteller called the adventure hub of the Purcell Mountains: Golden.

“it is a a place full of adventure with wonderful people who gladly share their friendship with you on the streets,” said Mosteller. “They are artistic, talented, go-the-extra-mile people who are proud of their place—and it shows.”

Mosteller said RCR is looking forward to working with the community and providing a positive force of pride and opportunity for Golden.

Mosteller's last word about skiing at Kicking Horse?

“It was epic,” said Mosteller. “In fact, it was so deep and such a fun run that I could not stop pinching myself for weeks after the experience."

Mosteller said he had one of his best days of skiing at Kicking Horse—and for him, it won't be his last.
