When it comes to outdoor sports, Fernie has it all. One of the top destinations for skiing and other activities, this community is sure to please.

Legendary slopes

For some pristine alpine skiing and snowboarding, Fernie Alpine Resort is the place to be. A regular shuttle service runs from downtown Fernie to the resort, which offers restaurants, tour guides, lessons, rentals and even fitness programs to help you warm up.

Redefining multi-use trails

The backcountry near Fernie is often used for leisure pursuits such as snowshoeing, snowboarding and wildlife viewing. The Fernie Nordic Society keeps 70 kilometres groomed for unbeatable cross-country skiing.

Fernie’s remarkable conditions and early snowfall make the powder fields and steep alpine trails inviting for snowmobilers as well. The Fernie Snowmobile Association prides itself on maintaining this beloved sledding zone.

Angler action

Catch the big one, no matter what the season. The lakes around Fernie freeze over to provide some quality ice-fishing opportunities. Fernie Wilderness Adventures can supply you with a guide who will take care of the equipment and setup so that you can relax and enjoy a quiet day of angling. This company also specializes in cat-skiing and other winter adventures.

They shoot, they score!

Feel like taking in a game after a day on the mountainous terrain?

Fernie has a strong hockey culture, and people come from all over to watch the Fernie Ghostriders play on Friday and Saturday nights.
