Companies are always on the lookout for ways to increase productivity in the workforce. In response to this need, there has been a brand new project initiated through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Development Agreement via the Ministry of Social Development. It has been developed by the Kootenay/Boundary region's five Community Futures branches, with funding from Western Economic Diversification Canada.

The goal of the Kootenay Boundary Productivity Initiative is to analyze and improve upon the ways in which support organizations—like Community Futures—address the issue of business productivity. It is hoped that this will benefit the economy in the long run, with employers gaining a better understanding of what it takes to make the most of their staff teams, boost efficiency and retain employees.
