Small Business Week 2014

The theme for Small Business Week 2014 is Back to Basics - Re-energize Your Business

by

The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) continues its 35-year tradition with Small Business Week, this year running from October 19 to 25 in communities across Canada.

The event’s activities provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs to celebrate, develop new skills, make new contacts, and plan for new opportunities. Events held during the week bring entrepreneurs together at conferences, luncheons and trade fairs across the country, where they have the opportunity to learn, network and enjoy themselves in the company of their peers.

In 2013, over 280 activities across Canada attracted close to 10,000 business people to BDC Small Business Week. This BDC flagship event celebrates entrepreneurship at the local, provincial and national levels, and the Cranbrook & District Chamber of Commerce anticipates that this year’s event will be the best yet. The theme for Small Business Week 2014 is Back to Basics: Re-energize Your Businesses.

BDC has put together a printed article series for Small Business Week 2014—a collection of five documents filled with useful information and suggestions for entrepreneurs, to support success in their ventures. The article series covers the following topics:

  • How an Advisory Board Can Boost Your Business
  • 5 Tips to Manage Your Cash Flow
  • More Than Money: How Non-Financial Benefits Can Be a Game-Changer for Your Business
  • Step by Step: How to Innovate Incrementally
  • Planning to Fail: How Mistakes Can Help Your Business

Those documents will be available on the BDC website as of the week of September 15.
