The new Dollar Tree store in Cranbrook is located on the edge of the Wal-Mart parking lot, with its back to the Tim Hortons parking lot. Dollar Tree opened its doors on March 15, and will hold its grand opening on March 22.

Randy Robertson, Dollar Tree manager from Castlegar, was on hand for the soft opening of the Cranbrook store, as was Betty Ryan from Dollar Tree in Kelowna. Both are in Cranbrook temporarily; Robertson is here for just a few days and Ryan will be here for two to three months, until a permanent manager is hired and trained in the company culture.

Ryan said that she is delighted with the work ethic of the 20 new associates—everyone pulled together to get the store opened on the date promised. Dollar Tree has no designated shelf stockers or cashiers or inventory counters. The staff members are becoming experts at all of the jobs that need to be done in the store.

“Equality is big at Dollar Tree,” said associate Robert, smiling.
