The alpine city of Kimberley, B.C., is the highest city in Canada. Its population is just over 8,000 and it is situated on Highway 95A, 15 minutes from the Canadian Rockies International Airport just north of Cranbrook. Kimberley’s economic driver is all-seasons tourism: golf, hiking and biking; waterways for paddle sports and fishing; and of course, the Kimberley Alpine Resort—part of Western Canada’s Powder Highway, beloved by skiers and snowboarders from around the world. Kimberley has an active arts community with summer festivals and markets and year-round music and theatrical productions. Still-affordable housing makes it an ideal home for families and retirees.
