The new Chances Castlegar Community Gaming Centre will open with a flourish in late July.

Plans for the grand opening celebration on July 25 are still in the works, but Chances Castlegar general manager Chad Bullock said it’s shaping up to be a great time.

“It’s going to involve a closed-door event with some municipal officials, leaders of the contractors and other dignitaries,” Bullock said. “In the afternoon, we’re going to open the doors to the general public and have the official grand opening after that.

“It’s going to be a very exciting location based on the design features we’ve got and all the packages inside.”

Bullock said the gaming centre will feature a slot area, a bingo area, a lounge and a dining area as part of its entertainment package.

The $6.5-million project is owned by Cranbrook-based Terrim Properties and construction is being undertaken by Langley-based Berezan Management Ltd.

The creation of the gaming centre expected to create 60 jobs in Castlegar, Bullock said there have been many resumés submitted for the positions and lots of interest from the community.
