A new specialty local yarn shop has opened up in the Key City. The Yarn Collective, owned and operated by Sydney Klause, is Cranbrook's one and only local yarn outlet serving knitters and fibre-lovers throughout the district.

Some of the fibres they now carry include well-known brand names like Noro, Nako, Diamond, Sirdar and Mirsol. The Yarn Collective also stocks hand dyed and spun fibres. There are knitting supplies and accessories available too.

The new shop is located on 2nd Street South, in the community mall, between the existing businesses of Little Caesars and the Flower Pot.

"The community has responded very positively to our new store, The Yarn Collective," said Sydney Klause. "Knitters are really appreciating the fact that they have a local source for fibre and supplies located right in Cranbrook."

The cozy little shop is only some 400 to 500 square feet in size but stocks an abundance of yarns to select from. The Yarn Collective plans to offer knitting classes and instruction come the Fall of 2016.

The Yarn Collective is open Tuesday through Saturday.
