Lora and Kevin Goodwin have opened their new business, Kootenay Country Craft Distillery. The first commercial distillery in the region is now open in South Slocan, complete with tasting room.

The Goodwin’s pride themselves in producing handcrafted artisan spirits. They source their grains from Creston heirloom wheat grower—TreasureLife Farms.

TreasureLife Farms grows 20 varieties of heirloom grains and stone grinds them on site.

The artisan spirits are hand crafted from the pristine mountain spring waters from the surrounding Selkirk Mountains. Their first product is the crystal clear Valhalla Vodka, with brandies and whiskey to come.

A tasting room is open Thursday to Saturday, 2 pm to 6 pm. Kootenay Country Craft Distillery is located in Winlaw, B.C.
