The Trust is pleased to welcome Kaylyn Gervais to the role of Community Relationships Manager for Columbia Basin East. Kaylyn joins a team of two others, Kelvin Saldern in the West and Lynda Lafleur in the North. Their role is to build and foster relationships with communities and organizations in their respective areas, and work with them to determine how the Trust can best support community priorities.

"In the past, I've been able to help empower residents in community-based decision making and I'm excited to bring what I've learned from these experiences to my new role," Kaylyn said. "The Trust provides a unique opportunity for the Basin and I look forward to learning about each community, bringing Trust resources to support communities and meeting the people whose efforts are making a positive difference across our region."

Kaylyn has experience consulting with the public and engaging stakeholders, bringing groups together, doing strategic planning and developing and implementing policies. Previously, she served as the Community Relations Planner for the Government of Alberta. She was also the Volunteer and Partner Coordinator of Flood Relief in the Kananaskis region after the 2013 floods, Project Manager with Alberta"s Clean Air Strategic Alliance, and Public Consultation and Communications Coordinator for Alberta's Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council.

Kaylyn is no stranger to the Basin. With a passion for the mountains and paragliding, she has been visiting our region for many years. She recently moved to Nelson before accepting the position in our Cranbrook office. She is looking forward to her new role, settling in to her new life in the Cranbrook area and making connections with people who help make the Basin a vibrant place to live.
