New faces are running the business at M&M Meat Shops in Cranbrook

Cranbrook M&M Meat Shops has new management as a local couple, John and Sheila Stishenko, have taken over operations. Both are recent retirees from careers in the trucking and health care industries but felt they needed to get back into the workforce.

The Stishenkos have lived in the community for over 20 years and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take over M&M Meat Shops when Mike Kaufman, the former franchise operator, moved on to a different career. The business is a good investment because people can buy a main meat course and build a multitude of dinner ideas around it, according to the Stishenkos.

The smaller, family-orientated atmosphere of the business is another aspect that they hope will draw in customers, they added. Getting any kind of logistical help or business advice almost on demand is one of the advantages to getting involved with a franchise.

Not only are John and Sheila involved as franchisees; their daughter-in-law, Debbie, is helping out as well as some of their grandkids once school is finished. M&M Meat Shops is open for business; the changeover officially took place on February 28. The couple hopes to have a grand reopening in the near future to celebrate their success.
