Work on the retail building to house Sports Chek and Dollar Tree is now underway in Cranbrook. Smart Centres in Cranbrook has broken ground for another retail unit, adding to their existing retail mix, which now includes SuperStore, Wal-Mart, Mark’s, Chatters, La Vie En Rose and others.

Excavators and backhoes are busy doing ground preparation for the new building. The footings and infrastructure work is now underway for the new free-standing retail outlet which is being built between the two existing retail centres on the east side of the retail power centre. It is reported that Sport Chek will be one of the new tenants and Dollar Tree, another nationally branded retailer, will be the other.

Local Cranbrook contractor Geoff Barry is involved in the construction project and the construction manager is Dawson Wallace out of Edmonton and Calgary. Projected opening of the two new retail outlets is for late 2013 or early 2014.
