Selkirk College announces new president

Angus Graeme has been appointed as President and CEO of Selkirk College.

After many months of diligent work by a search committee, the Board of Governors and Davies Park executive search firm, Selkirk College has found the person with the experience and the leadership attributes necessary to lead it successfully into the future. Angus Graeme has been appointed as president and CEO of Selkirk College.

"A Board of Governors has many important responsibilities in providing leadership to the college, but none surpasses that of hiring a President and CEO," explained Selkirk College Board of Governors Chair, Stefan Lehmann. "Selkirk is a very special institution in a unique part of Canada. We entered into this search believing that it would take an extraordinary person to assume the leadership role at our college. We believe that we found exactly what we were looking for."

Graeme has extensive experience in post-secondary education. He began as an instructor at the college, followed by successful service as department head, school chair, dean and vice-president, academic and student development.

He has a Masters of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University, is known to the communities of the region and has been a dedicated and loyal employee of the college for almost 20 years.

"I'd like to recognize and thank the members of the college search committee (that included students and representatives from all employee groups] and the board, who worked tirelessly over the last six months to make their way through the very impressive list of more than 100 candidates," Lehmann said.

Graeme replaces Marilyn Luscombe, who led the college for the last ten years prior to accepting the leadership position at the New Brunswick Community College. Graeme will officially assume the position as president and CEO of Selkirk College on April 15, 2011.
