New organic store in Cranbrook proving to be a real hit
From the Ground Up Organics is one of Cranbrook's newest businesses and though only open for few months the store is proving very popular with area consumers.
"People are so thrilled to have an organics store in Cranbrook," said Leanna Spring, co-owner of the store. "Everyday we have people coming in and telling us how much they appreciate a store like our in Cranbrook. There seems to be real demand for organically grown products in Cranbrook."
The 1,500-square-foot retail outlet, located just off busy Cranbrook Street next to the bus depot. It features hundreds of organic grocery items plus fresh baked bread, bottled fresh milk and locally grown pork and lamb — all organic, of course.
The store is operated by Leanna Spring and her daughter Devon Rae and will soon feature a lunch counter offering organic soup, sandwiches and salads. One of the newest product lines comes from Creston's Kootenay Meadows makers of Kootenay Alpine Cheese and producers of fresh grass-based dairy products like milk in glass bottles. They also offer organic pork and lamb from Bull River's Cutter Ranch and will be adding organic beef in the near future.
Leanna Spring says they will be adding even more locally produced organic products as the growing season progresses.
From the Ground Up Organics is currently open five days a week Tuesday to Saturday, with future plans to open six days a week soon.
