New ICU development at the Cranbrook hospital

Work is underway on the $20 million East Kootenay Regional Hospital’s new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Cranbrook. The Province of BC is contributing almost $12 million and the East Kootenay Regional District almost $8 million and the East Kootenay Foundation for Health around $120,000.

The new ICU unit being added onto the northeast side of the existing hospital structure will house six acute care beds along with new equipment and a more efficient layout. The addition will be approximately 8,000 square feet.

It is another welcome addition as the hospital continues to position itself as the regional health care facility for the entire East Kootenay.

Projected completion date of the ICU expansion is the middle of 2016.
