New hair salon opens in Marysville

Mane Street Salon is owned and operated by stylist Melanie Dickson of Kimberley.

Marysville, the small community which some people refer to as south Kimberley, is seeing a resurgence in business activity recently. The latest new business to open its doors is a new hair salon called Mane Street Salon.

As the name would suggest it is located on the main street of Marysvillle and is located in the building which housed the St. Mary Flyfishing Shop for a number of years.

Mane Street Salon is owned and operated by stylist Melanie Dickson of Kimberley. In addition to herself, Dickson employs two other stylists at the new shop —Jennifer Pommier and Christi Rossi, all from Kimberley with one other stylist slated to come on board in July.

"I have always wanted to own my own salon. After spending the past two years building my own clientele, the perfect opportunity came along and I decided to jump at it,"  said Dickson. "I have always been a people person and love having people come into the salon and always leave with a smile on their face. I get to be the best part of people's days."

The salon features three stylist chairs and two wash stations and a full line of hair and beauty products. It is a full service family salon, catering to the entire family. They offer cuts, colors, foils, perms, various other hair treatments, extensions, and offer a wide selection of hair care and styling products as well as styling tools.

When asked why did you choose Marysville for your salon? She said, "I chose Marysville because it seems to be the place where things are happening in town. There are a number of other small businesses opening up along the main street, and it just seemed to be the perfect location. There was great visibility, ample parking, it was the perfect size for what I was looking for, and Marysville seems to have its own very tight-knit little community that really works to support its businesses."

Melanie added, "I am thrilled to be part of the Marysville business community and I am overwhelmed at the support and welcome we have received in our new location. Taking this 'leap of faith' has truly been one of the best decisions of my career thus far. So grateful for the support of my husband Doug and my children for pouring so much of their heart and soul into making one of my dreams a reality. I am looking forward to being a stable and long lasting member of the Marysville Community."
