New distillery coming to Invermere
Taynton Bay Distillers of Invermere is slated to become the Kootenay’s newest distillers of spirits.
Picking up on the craft beer trend and the growing rise of craft distilleries in B.C., Invermere should have new a craft spirits producer by summer.
Taynton Bay Distillers of Invermere is slated to become the Kootenay’s newest distillers of spirits. Kootenay Country Craft Distillery in the Slocan Valley also produces spirits and the production at Bohemian Spirits in Kimberley was slowed down late last fall because of a fire at their operations.
According to a report in the Columbia Valley Pioneer newspaper Taynton Bay Distillers will be located in the basement of The Station Pub and the company is owned by the Rocky River Ownership group consisting of Justin Atterbury, Jason Powers and Ricky Ebuenga.
They are planning to produce vodka, gin and an un-aged whiskey which should be available for the summer or fall of 2016. The distillery has ordered its still from a company called Hillbilly Stills in Kentucky.
The small distillery will also contain a tasting bar and a compact retail space.
