There has been lots of buzz around town about a new radio station survey being conducted in the marketplace. Several reports have been received by Kootenay Business magazine that a nationally syndicated survey firm is conducting an extensive market survey for a potential new radio station based in Cranbrook, with the intention of serving the East Kootenay market.

The survey indicates that the new station would be a contemporary adult music format—skewed towards a bit more mature demographic.

Of course, the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group dominates the market and has done so for years. They own both the country (B-104) and rock (The Drive FM) stations in the market with repeater broadcasts in the Elk Valley.

Does the market need another radio station? Stay tuned because depending on the results from this current survey being conducted, a new Cranbrook-based radio station may soon be on the air.
