Symbolic of the drive for revitalization in Creston, the new Creston Place development is located in the downtown core of the Kootenay city. It is a 23,000-square-foot four-level office and retail building that includes a full-depth basement.

This is first new building to be constructed in downtown Creston in over 30 years.

According to an article in the Southern Interior Construction Association magazine, Ross Beddoes of the Town of Creston's planning and development department, says that Creston Place is an excellent complement to the area's revitalization plans.

"It uses the downtown design guidelines that the town established, in terms of form, character of building, and the use of materical characteristic to the Creston area. The town is very excited to have this building being completed," said Beddoes in the article.

Terry Rendek, of T.A. Rendek and Associates is owner of the company building the new complex.

Rendek told the same magazine, "Creston Place has local investment behind it; it is hoped that the downtown revitalization will lead to more local investors...and reverse the outmigration of people from the (town's) core. We're hoping that the result will be similiar to the result of renewals in towns like Fernie and Kimberley.

Construction is well underway and should be completed early in the new year.
