PJ Mallen of Mallen Architecture and Jason Maynes of Canadian Tire Real Estate were at the recent board meeting of the Regional District of East Kootenay in Cranbrook.

They were seeking final approval for a new Canadian Tire store near the crossroads in Invermere. Canadian Tire has corporately approved the building of the store and has obtained a dealer to operate it. They are awaiting the final go-ahead from the RDEK planning department.

Mallen and Maynes presented a revised version of the plan for the RDEK board’s approval, which included enhanced landscaping, stone skirting and post-and-beam architectural features.

If approved the Canadian Tire development would begin in 2011 with a projected opening date in the spring of 2012.
